As of right now, YouTube has a fresh appearance and a number of new features that will enhance user satisfaction by making streaming more streamlined and immersive. YouTube just added channel handles to make mentions simpler.
A splash of color
YouTube wanted to give our apps some colour without deterring users from their regular activities, including watching suggested videos or exploring for new content. Experiments led to the development of ambient mode. Users strongly favoured the initial design concept during testing, which is how YouTube knew it was on to something.
Ambient mode
Dynamic colour sampling is used in ambient mode to subtly adjust the app backdrop colour to the video. In order to draw viewers in and make the movie more noticeable on our watch page, the company was inspired by the light screens cast in a gloomy room. This feature will be available on dark-themed mobile and web platforms.
Video playlists
To make it easier for viewers to get started, video playlists will use the same colour scheme and now display additional information about each playlist.
Improvements Video player
In place of links to YouTube, buttons will now be present in video descriptions. The styling of common actions like “like,” “share,” and “download” has also been improved to minimise clutter. Even though the subscribe button is no longer red, its new appearance and high contrast make it more easier to spot and more widely available on both watch sites and channel pages.
Precise seeking
To make fine-tuned adjustments to get to the precise part in each movie, simply drag or slide up while looking for a row of thumbnails to display in the video player on a desktop or mobile device.
Availability
All users will gradually start to experience these improvements over the next few weeks, starting today.
Speaking on the announcement, Neal Mohan, Chief Product Officer, YouTube, said:
When the first YouTube video was uploaded in 2005, YouTube had a search bar and a list of video tags on its homepage. Since then, you could say we’ve gone through some changes. In this latest installment of our Innovation series, we’re sharing a design update that will make YouTube more modern and bring new features to power the YouTube you know and love.
