In a remarkable achievement, Indian batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal hammered a glorious double hundred against England in the ongoing third Test match at Niranjan Shah stadium in Rajkot. This is Jaiswal’s second double hundred in Test cricket, and he became only the seventh player in history to slam double tons in consecutive Tests.
Notably, in the opening over of this series’ second Test match, which India won handily to square the series, Jaiswal hit the first double century of his career. In the first innings at Rajkot, the young player was unsuccessful, but he recovered magnificently to establish himself as the Englishmen’s leader in the second innings.
Since debuting in Tests, Jaiswal has emerged as Indiaโs Mr consistent in the purest format. Alongside skipper Rohit Sharma, the southpaw has formed a lethal opening pair.
He amassed 80 runs in the first Test in Hyderabad, capping an incredible start to this series. In the next Tests, he produced two more double tons, which helped India thrash the visitors.
His double hundred and scintillating knocks from Shubman Gill and Sarfaraz Ahmed have powered India to a dominant position in the Rajkot Test. As of writing, the hosts have taken a mammoth 539-run lead, placed at 413 for four with Jaiswal and Sarfaraz unbeaten in the middle.
