Samsung recently presented its Galaxy Unpacked event and, as was predicted, introduced its newest Galaxy Watch 6 Series. This includes the brand-new Galaxy Watch 6 and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, the latter of which has the renowned spinning bezel once again. Check out what the new Galaxy smartwatches have to offer.
Galaxy Watch 6 Series: Specs and Features
The new Galaxy Watch 6 Classic marks the return of Samsung’s rotating bezel, as rumored earlier. Both the Galaxy Watch 6 and the Watch 6 Classic come with a 20% larger circular display and 15% thinner bezels.
Up to 2000 nits of brightness and Always-on-Display (AOD) capability are included in the 1.5-inch Super AMOLED Sapphire Crystal display (there is also a 1.3-inch size option). You can choose from more than 700 permutations of watch bands that can be customised based on your preferences.
Better sleep tracking is a key feature of the Samsung Galaxy smartwatches. Access is available to specific Speep Score variables including overall sleep duration, sleep cycle, awake time, and others. With the help of a Sleep Coach, which is included within the watches, you can have healthier sleep cycles. Moreover, the Galaxy Watch 6 series may modify the settings of the linked gadgets to create the ideal sleeping environment.
A SpO2 monitor, an ECG sensor, and a heart rate sensor are now available for health monitoring, along with a new feature called Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification that tracks heartbeats for Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) even while you’re asleep. There are options to monitor the menstrual cycle and detect skin temperature (similar to the Samsung Watch 5 Series). A new skin temperature API that uses cutting-edge infrared technology for precise measurements is supported. Similar to the Apple Watch Series 8, there is Fall Detection to look for a propensity to trip or fall when sleeping or working out.
You can create and monitor objectives by using the Body Composition tool, which provides information on the amount of body fat, body water, skeletal muscle, and basal metabolic rate. You can create fitness objectives by using the new Customized Heart Rate Zone tool, which will give you five degrees of running intensity based on your physical capabilities. To track different activities, there are over 100 sports modes.
You get up to 300mAh battery, which can last up to 40 hours and supports WPC-based wireless charging. Under the hood, there’s the Exynos W930 chipset with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. It runs the latest Wear OS 4 with One UI 5 Watch on top. The watches come with LTE, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 2.4+5GHz, NFC, 5ATM and an IP68 rating, and GPS support.
According to prior announcements, the Samsung Wallet, WhatsApp, and Thermo Check applications are included with both the new Galaxy Watch 6 and the Watch 6 Classic. The Audible app will soon be supported by the watches. Moreover, these have Samsung Knox, a better Camera Controller, the option to switch the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro’s linked device using the Auto Switch functionality, and more features.
