AI is the focal point of the new X80 5G modem. The X80 5G modem, according to Qualcomm, is the first Gigabit 5G modem with AI capabilities in the market. Not only that, but the 5G modem itself has satellite connectivity built right in.
For enhanced performance, the Snapdragon X80 5G modem has a new Qualcomm 5G AI processor. It also adds satellite connectivity and support for mmWave and Sub-6 GHz bands. For improved voice and video calling on 5G NR bands, the AI-enabled capability can assist with increasing the range via CPE. Furthermore, the X80 modem uses AI for multi-antenna management.
Qualcomm claims that the Snapdragon X80’s AI integration has greatly enhanced the user experience. It provides 60% quicker CPE service acquisition across mmWave bands, 30% faster connection acquisition, and 10% less power consumption when operating in a mmWave 5G band.
Not only that, but cell selection time is lowered by 20% and location accuracy is increased by 30%. It offers 5 times faster peak speeds than 4G networks. Aside from that, carrier aggregation has advanced and can now provide performance gains of up to six times.
FastConnect 7900 Launched With AI-Enhanced Wi-Fi 7
A new FastConnect 7900 technology from Qualcomm is in charge of enabling local wireless networking on Snapdragon chipsets. The connectivity of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and UWB (ultra wideband) has significantly improved. Both the latency and power consumption have decreased dramatically—by 30% and 40%, respectively.
