MediaTek and Google have announced a partnership to optimize Google’s novel Large Language Model (LLM), Gemini Nano, for MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9300 and Dimensity 8300 chipsets.
Through this partnership, Google’s AI development skills and MediaTek’s NeuroPilot AI platform are combined to create seamless on-device Generative AI experiences for smartphones.
On-device Generative AI offers significant advantages over traditional cloud-based solutions:
- Seamless performance: Enjoy smooth and responsive AI experiences, even in areas with limited connectivity.
- Enhanced privacy and security: Keep your data secure and private with on-device processing.
- Improved reliability: Experience consistent performance without relying on external servers.
- Lower latency: Get faster response times for real-time interactions.
- Offline functionality: Access AI features even without an internet connection.
- Reduced costs: Benefit from lower operational expenses compared to cloud-based solutions.
In order to further enable the developer community, Google and MediaTek want to make available an APK made especially for the Dimensity 8300 and 9300 chipsets. This APK will make it easier to integrate Gemini Nano apps, which will hasten the creation and release of cutting-edge AI experiences for smartphone users.
