Google Maps is finally adding a “glanceable directions” feature to your lock screen, showing you directions and arrival time without unlocking your phone.
Glanceable directions is initially announced Feb 2023. Now this Update is live both on Android and iOS.Now, you can easily keep tabs on your journey progress right from the route overview, without even hitting the start navigation button.
Even better, turn-by-turn directions and a live ETA will pop up on your lock screen. This means you don’t need to unlock your phone to find out next turn.
While Maps will automatically re-route if you go off-track when walking, riding a bike or driving a car, the route preview will be adjusted accordingly.
How to enable Glanceable Directions
By default, the toggle is turned off, so you’ll need to switch it on yourself.
- Now, tap on Settings scroll down and click on the option named ‘Navigation Settings’.
- Scroll down and enable the toggle named ‘Glanceable directions while navigating’.
This New feature seems to be making its way to more users, particularly those on version 11.116 for Android and 6.104.2 on iOS.
