The distinctive Blue bird logo of Twitter has been replaced with a “X,” the most significant modification since the billionaire acquired the social media site for $44 billion last year.
Musk released a brief video of a flashing “X” on Sunday, and when asked whether the company’s emblem would change, he answered “Yes” in a Twitter Spaces audio chat.
“Yeah we’re cutting the Twitter logo off the building with blow torches,” he told an unknown speaker.
By placing the most frequently utilised services behind a barrier, Twitter has recently been encouraging more users to purchase premium blue subscriptions. The corporation might further improve the platform with this rebranding in order to encourage more people to jump on the subscription bandwagon. Musk’s Twitter is up against Meta’s Thread, which has millions of users and operates a platform similar to Twitter.
For now, the URL x.com redirects to twitter.com, and in the coming days, the change in the branding of the world’s biggest micro-blogging platform will be officially confirmed. Elon Musk is also considering turning the default platform colour to black, which is currently set to white.
This is not the first time Musk is playing around with the Twitter branding. Back in April 2023, Twitter’s blue bird logo was replaced by the logo of Dogecoin, a cryptocurrency. However, it was replaced by the original logo in just a matter of days.
